One thing we noticed in Valencia was the dogs. Everyone had a dog. It's not quite as prevalent here, but there are a lot. And not just small dogs either. I've seen some lab and chow types.
The beach entry points have signs, showing either a dog or a dog with a red slash over it. And in between are signs of a crouching dog, with a garbage can below.
I've seen numerous dogs in the outdoor seating at cafes. And some stores have bowls of water outside the front door.
It's nice to be in a dog friendly area.
